Start your day with the lively Rocket Run and a delicious Community Breakfast, enjoy the colorful Hometown USA Parade, and cap it all off with a stunning fireworks display over the Columbia River Gorge. The Mid-Columbia Car Club Cruise The Gorge is an exciting annual tradition that kicks off with the “Neon Cruise” in downtown The Dalles. This lively open cruise invites classic car enthusiasts to come together, showcase their vehicles, and cruise through the streets, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with nostalgia and community spirit. It’s a beloved highlight that draws spectators eager to admire the variety of classic cars parading down 2nd and 3rd streets.
The festivities continue with the “Show in the Shade” at Sorosis Park, where car lovers gather to display their prized vehicles. This part of the event features a wide array of classic cars, food and specialty vendors, live music, and a chance to win one of over 40 awards. The event fosters a sense of camaraderie among participants and provides a fun, family-friendly environment for all attendees.
The excitement extends into the evening with more cruising and socializing at the local lodges, offering another opportunity for car enthusiasts to connect. The weekend concludes with the Dufur Classic Car Show, providing yet another venue for showcasing beautiful vehicles and celebrating the classic car community. The Holiday Season is fast approaching, with that comes one of the most anticipated parades of the year! We invite you to celebrate the Christmas season at the 35th Annual Starlight Parade and Tree Lighting Celebration, on November 29th, 2024.
Enjoy floats decked with lights, Christmas music and holiday cheer in the air. Witness the delight in the children’s eyes as they watch Santa’s sleigh rolling down the streets of The Dalles. The holiday spirit then comes to life at the Annual Tree Lighting Celebration, located at The Dalles Chamber complete with hot chocolate, cookies and popcorn.
The parade begins at 6pm at West Sixth and Webber Streets, then rolls through downtown before ending in front of The Dalles Chamber of Commerce office. The Tree Lighting Celebration will take place following the parade.

Due to the 3rd week next April falling on Easter weekend, the decision has been made to move The Northwest Cherry Festival to the fourth weekend of April 2025 Next years Cherry Festival Theme will be “Cherry Land”. The Northwest Cherry Festival is a longtime favorite among locals and visitors alike, the festival is set in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge and showcases The Dalles’ deep agricultural heritage and Western roots. In 2015, the Cherry Festival expanded to three days of family-friendly activities and events, and 2024 is going to be even better! The Northwest Cherry Festival takes place in downtown The Dalles from Friday, April 25th through Sunday, April 27th, 2024. The festival includes the Gorge’s largest parade, a classic car show, and lots of great local music and bands, craft vendors, and a carnival. You don’t want to miss the crowning of Cherry Festival Royalty at Mid-Columbia Senior Center’s Breakfast Saturday Morning before the parade! The Dalles has much more to offer though the festival alone could keep you busy.

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
